About the role

Rubrik seeks a proven leader who has extensive, firsthand, experience in creating customer documentation. As a Technical Publications Manager, you will lead a team of technical writers to ensure that they produce customer documentation that meets our standards of quality and clarity. You will tap into your experience to help resolve issues, provide feedback, and drive productivity while also helping your team support a healthy work-life balance. You will share your knowledge of our standards, workflows, and tools to enable your team to be effective and successful. With your guidance, your team will play a significant role in shaping the documentation that helps our customers value and enjoy Rubrik’s data management, data security, data protection, and data resiliency products.

What you'll do

You have a passion for helping your team exceed expectations and helping them find satisfaction and joy in their successes. Your team sees that you listen to their thoughts and suggestions, and that you take those into account, but you are comfortable making final decisions. You have experience evaluating the performance of your team members and communicating their evaluation in a performance review. You work well in a cross-functional, collaborative, environment and easily gain a productive rapport with engineers, designers, architects, and product managers. You never lose sight of your goal of leading an effective and successful team which produces customer documentation on time and of highest quality. As a natural part of how you approach your job, you: 

  • Accept responsibility for the quality and timeliness of the documentation that your team produces.
  • Communicate easily and effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and improve workflows and methodologies.
  • Advocate for continuing to enhance customer satisfaction with our products and our documentation.
  • Anticipate and proactively address individual challenges and team challenges.
  • Collaborate with your team to help them develop their technical writing skills and improve their work.
  • Communicate performance evaluations with clarity, transparency, and integrity

Experience and qualifications you'll need

  • BA/BS degree in related disciplines, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 5 years as a technical writer and a minimum 5 years as a writing team manager.
  • Experience supporting, encouraging, and leading writers to succeed.
  • Excellent English writing skills.
  • Experience documenting public cloud, data security posture, and SaaS products.
  • Skill using Oxygen XML Author or a similar product to create documentation in DITA.
  • Ability to manage documentation source files using Git and GitHub.
