Job Summary

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting for commissions, particularly in accordance with ASC 606, and will also handle various general ledger accounting tasks. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy of our financial records and supporting the overall financial health of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Commission Accounting:
    • Execute on the monthly commission accounting process, including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations related to commission accruals and payments.
    • Ensure accurate and timely recording of commission expenses in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
    • Reconcile commission payments and ensure discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
    • Perform monthly and quarterly commission reconciliations.
    • Prepare detailed commission reports and analysis for management review.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of commission policies and procedures.
  2. General Ledger Accounting:
    • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations, including cash, accruals, payroll, prepaid expenses, etc.
    • Support internal and external audits related to commission accounting by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  3. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with sales, finance, payroll, and business IT teams to ensure alignment on commission policies and procedures.
    • Collaborate with other departments to gather relevant financial data for analysis and reporting.
  4. Financial Analysis and Reporting:
    • Conduct variance analysis and explain significant fluctuations.
    • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as requested by management.
  5. Compliance and Process Improvement:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulations, particularly ASC 606.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Chartered Accountant / CPA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience.
  • Proficiency with ASC 606 Sales Commission accounting.
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience working in U.S. GAAP.
  • NetSuite experience required; Experience with Xactly is a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, specifically with extracting, formatting, validating, and analyzing complex data sets.
  • Excellent organization skills and proven track record of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable team player with strong attention to detail.
